Poultry production in Bahrain is back to normal after a mysterious disease that had struck poultry farms in the country and elsewhere in the region in June, Bahrain Tribune reported Tuesday.
Jalil Halwachi, General Manager of the Delmon Poultry Company, Bahrain's largest, was quoted by the paper as saying that the disease was promptly contained by the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture.
"We also put in an effort and with co-operation from the Agriculture Ministry, we have managed to limit the damage to the bare minimum," Halwachi told the paper, adding that "the poultry farms in the country had lost some chicks as a result of the disease and even the production had come down by nearly 15 percent.
"But since we took prompt measures to contain the disease, we are now back to normal operations now," he said. Normalization process had taken two months. "Hopefully, all steps have now been taken to ensure that this does not happen again," he told the paper - Albawaba.com
