Bahrain is recruiting 900 Bahraini teachers to start work at the beginning of the new school year, vowing to improve the working conditions of teachers before the new term starts on September 18, reported the Gulf Daily News on Saturday.

It said that around 100 technical education graduates will be trained so they qualify for teaching positions in all specialties.

These training schemes will include a five-week field-training course in industrial enterprises.

The newly appointed teachers will also receive continuous training for one year to enhance their educational levels.

According to the paper, the education ministry has granted 43 technology and sciences scholarships for graduates to study in British universities - the highest number granted in a single year.

The ministry has also stepped up preparations for the new school year.

More than two million school books have been printed or purchased and 20 intermediate and primary schools have been equipped with two computer laboratories – Albawaba.com
