Bahrain is well ahead in the preparation of a draft law to speed up the e-governance process and e-commerce transactions, providing stimulus to the information technology sector, Bahrain Tribune reported, quoting the chief executive officer of the Economic Development Board, Jamal Hazeem.
“We think that by the end of this year our draft e-commerce law which lays down the blueprint for e-transactions and the recognition of electronic signature verification will be accepted.
“This is expected to bring about a sea-change in the way we do business,” he said, during the ceremony to sign a key memorandum of understanding between the Electronic and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) of India and the EDB.
According to the paper, the MoU is expected to usher in a new era for the Bahrain IT industry and create an environment that will see fruitful synergy in the EDB’s plans to attract Japanese hi-tech industries by showing the presence here of a strong IT and software industry – Albawaba.com
