Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco) has offered a $3.4 million concession to its residential customers in the form of a $26 credit in every telephone bill for fixed residential lines, reported the Gulf News.
Beneficiaries of this initiative include all customers registered with Batelco on July 1, 2001, in the residential category.
"This $26 credit is a symbolic gesture of appreciation towards our residential fixed line customers, who now use some 130,000 connections. Later this year, we will be announcing further tariff reductions on International Direct Dialing (IDD) calls which will benefit the business sector and various customer sectors," stated Transportation Minister Sheikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.
The minister, who is also Batelco's chairman, stated: "These announcements and reviews come as part of the ongoing policy to relieve the financial burdens of Bahraini citizens and residents. In the past few years, Batelco has introduced a number of tariff reductions on many services – Albawaba.com
