Iraqi officials claim that a car bomb has killed nine at a busy bus station in central Baghdad. All victims are reported to be civilians to include 16 wounded.
The bomb was reported by a police officer to have gone off Sunday morning outside the bus station in the Allawi area. Last Thursday, in the same area, a suicide bomber detonated a bomb killing himself and almost two dozen others among a group of security force recruits in same area as reported by AP.
Over the past year, political tensions and violence have increased at a rapid pace. Last year, the country saw the highest death told since the worst of the country's warring began to subside in 2007, according to United Nations figures. The death toll reported from the UN claims those killed number 8,868 in 2013.
