Brothel shootout in Baghdad leaves 12 dead

A shootout in a Baghdadi brothel on Wednesday killed 12 people.

Unknown gunmen stormed a brothel in Baghdad on Wednesday, killing 12 people, security and medical officials told AFP.

At least seven women and five men were shot in the suburb of Zayouna, which is renowned for its redlight district.

There is no further information on the identity of the gunman. 

Prostitution is prohibited by Islam.

With the latest attack, over 300  people have been killed in violence so far this month, according to AFP figures.
