AXA Insurance Gulf announced yesterday that they have finished distributing a monetary relief effort to help people affected by the war in Lebanon. The initiative of collecting funds to help those in need in Lebanon, which started within a week after the start of the conflict, saw AXA employees from Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the UAE contributing towards supporting the reconstruction of the war-hit Lebanon. The total collection amounted to US$12,200 with AXA Gulf putting in the bulk of the amount.
The proceeds have been directed toward three actions. First, toward AXA Gulf’s own employees whose families have lost their homes in Lebanon. Second, the Lebanese Business Council in the UAE towards their relentless efforts for the Lebanon community. And finally, AXA Middle East, AXA Gulf’s sister company in Lebanon who luckily had no casualties.
Says one of the AXA employees who received support for his family, “I am proud to work for a company like AXA and I feel that the support given is true and sincere especially in this time of crisis. I want to thank all my colleagues who have contributed to this cause in their own little way and I also want to thank the AXA management as well for their understanding and financial support.”
Mr. Julien Audrerie, Head of Operations, Personal Lines, and Marketing Manager AXA Insurance Gulf said, “We were deeply saddened and shocked at the start of the Lebanese war. It was not in our hands to ask for a ceasefire but we decided to contribute at our own level and show that we care. I know $12,200 might not sound like much, but the generosity of our own employees goes to those people who need it, and for them, it means a lot.”
Following AXA Gulf’s initiative, the AXA Group in the Mediterranean region has launched an initiative for all its employees to donate to AXA Middle East, if they wish to.
