A top Daesh militant has reportedly been killed as the group fears a secret sniper is picking off the leadership one by one.

Neil Prakash, who fled to Syria from Australia in 2013, is believed to have been killed after secretive Daesh messages revealed he had been killed in the country.

The Australian quickly rose through the ranks and became a top recruiter for the militant group.

Prakash, who is also known as Abu Khaled al-Cambodi, was also connected to a number of  threats including an alleged Anzac day terror plot targeting Melbourne.

Australian government officials, who have not confirmed or denied reports, revealed that his online activity has ceased.

Prakash is believed to have used social media to contact vulnerable young people in a bid to convince them to join Daesh.

He is also featured in one of the group's propaganda videos, calling on his Australian “brothers” to “rise up” against the country.
