Five Egyptian soldiers were killed and 10 injured, as an Egyptian military base in Rafah city was attacked on Thursday, Egyptian security sources told Ma'an.
The sources said insurgents targeted an ammunitions stockpile in the attack.
Egyptian air forces identified the gunmen, flying above the area to chase the gunmen, security sources said.
On Monday, an Egyptian soldier and a police officer were shot dead during two separate attacks in the northern Sinai Peninsula.
Security sources told Ma'an at the time that the gunmen, affiliated with the Sinai Province group, shot and a killed a police officer outside the officer's home in el-Arish city.
Separately, the security sources said an Egyptian soldier who worked at the Sheikh Zuweid city police station was shot in the head and killed by a long-range sniper.
Egyptian military and police forces have been the target of ongoing attacks, which have increased since Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi took power from democratically-elected Muhammad Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood in 2013.
The Egyptian president came under attack following his violent suppression of Muslim Brotherhood members following his rise to power, which Sisi has argued is necessary to deter future attacks in the Sinai and across Egypt.
A militant group responsible for a majority of attacks on military personnel, Beit Ansar al-Maqdis, aligned with the Daesh group in November 2014, changing its name to Sinai Province.
