Syrian President Bashar al-Assad arrived in Tehran on Sunday for a two-day visit. Iranian Minister of Housing and Urban Development Ali Abdolalizadeh welcomed President al-Assad at Mehrabad airport, IRNA reported.
President Ahmadinejad welcomed the Syrian president at the Presidential Office at Pastour street.
During his stay in Tehran, al-Assad is scheduled to hold talks with senior Iranian officials on issues of mutual interests.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said that Syrian president's visit to Tehran is taking place on two topics - offering felicitations to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and holding negotiations on bilateral and regional issues.
President Assad paid his last visit to Iran in July 2004, the third since taking office in 2000.
