Palestinian President Yasser Arafat embarks Sunday on a tour that will take him to Jordan and Gulf countries, a top Palestinian official said Sunday.
Arafat will hold talks in Amman with King Abdullah on the Palestinian crisis, chief Palestinian negotiator, Saeb Erekat said, adding that the talks will focus on the possibility of convening an emergency Arab summit in light of the “danger aimed at all Arab countries from the Israeli military escalation.”
Erekat was quoted by the official Kuwaiti news agency (KUNA) as telling Palestine Radio that Arafat will begin a Gulf tour after concluding talks with King Abdullah. He said the gulf tour will focus on discussing all possible mechanisms to implement the Mitchell report recommendations and to provide international protection for the Palestinian people.
