ArabNet 2010 Conference to nurture MENA Internet ecosystem

The ArabNet 2010 Conference (www.ArabNet.me), the first international conference for the Arab Internet industry, is to be preceded by a special pre-conference workshop in Dubai that will help young entrepreneurs hone their business ideas and presentations in preparation for ArabNet.

ArabNet Communications & Outreach Coordinator Samer Karam, said: “ArabNet is an international forum that aims to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship in the Arab web industry.  We are holding pre-event workshops in Dubai, Damascus, Amman, Cairo, Beirut, Doha, Ramallah and Riyadh as part of our community-building and ecosystem-nurturing initiatives.”

The conference will be held in Beirut on March 25-26, 2010 at the Habtoor Grand Hotel in collaboration with the Central Bank of Lebanon, with the support of Bader Lebanon, Endeavor Jordan, the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship, the Syrian Young Entrepreneurs Association, YallaStartup!, the Professional Computer Association of Lebanon, ALSI of Lebanon, and the Telecom Regulatory Association of Lebanon.

The Dubai workshop is being headed up by Amir Farha of the UAE business advisory and venture capital company Tandem and is to take place at The Shelter in Al Quoz on Tuesday 9th March 2010. The workshop commences at 7pm and is open to anyone interested in attending ArabNet, applying to the Ideathon & Startup Demo, or simply participating in this community-building activity for Arab web entrepreneurs.

ArabNet will bring together speakers from Silicon Valley, Europe and the Middle East, as well as providing opportunities for entrepreneurs with ambitious e-ideas to network with high profile investors and Internet executives. Industry leaders from Google, Yahoo!, Facebook, AdMob, Intel, Al Jazeera, and many others will address subjects that are critical to the Arab Web Industry including: e-commerce, gaming, mobile, content, online advertising, social networking, new media, and start-up fundraising.
 
Key to the conference are pitch sessions: Ideathon sponsored by Google & Startup Demo sponsored by Aramex. Both sessions set out to match talent with opportunity.  The Ideathon is looking for 10 select entrepreneurs to introduce their fresh startup ideas to eager investors in a rapid-fire pitch session.  Similarly, the Startup Demo will select startups with innovative products to pitch and exhibit their companies for the duration of the conference.  ArabNet has extended itsis currently accepting applications from entrepreneurs and startups from all over the MENA region.
