A French reliable source on Thursday was quoted as saying by the London-based Al-Hayat daily that Israel doesn't want any change in Syria. The source said that Israel had complained to France that Hizbullah is rehabilitating its forces and rockets arsenal with the blessing of the Lebanese government led by Fuad Saniora.
In response to these complaints, said the source, France has insisted that the decision to re-arm Hizbullah is connected to the Syrian policy. The French source said Lebanon's government aims at living in peace and reconstructing the country.
The French source added that Israel believes "it can destroy Syria anytime," but is not interested in weakening Syrian President Bashar Assad because it does not know what will follow Assad regime.
The French source also told the Arabic newspaper that there are various opinions amongst international players on the issue of Syria, adding that the U.S. "is disgusted" by Assad, while Israel is interested in letting him remain in power.
