Arab foreign ministers will hold an emergency meeting in Cairo on Wednesday on the Palestinian crisis, said reports.
Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa said Friday he had called for the foreign ministers to meet to formulate a response to Israel's latest actions against Arabs, the Gulf Daily News quoted him as saying.
Moussa told reporters that "Israel's insults" had gone too far, and it was time for Arabs to respond, after Israel had disregarded them as a group and continued to demolish Palestinian homes and attack civilians.
The meeting will be a follow-up to an emergency Arab summit in Cairo in October, which urged Arabs to back the Palestinian Intifada.
The summit also pledged $1 billion in aid to the Palestinians.
Palestinian President Yasser Arafat will address the foreign ministers, discussing developments in the Occupied Territories and the need to offer useful assistance to the people there, Palestinian Ambassador to the Arab League Mohamed Sobeih told journalists.
"Arabs in general, the Arab League and its secretary general must reject the words and actions of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, including his call for the expansion of Jewish settlements on the Golan Heights and its continued occupation," Moussa said.
