Israeli soldiers enforcing a curfew clashed with dozens of young Palestinian stone-throwers Saturday, and a 14-year-old boy was shot dead.
Residents said more soldiers and tanks were deployed Saturday in Nablus and in adjacent refugee camps.
Two clashes erupted Saturday: one in the center of Nablus and the second in the Al Ein refugee camp near the city. Fourteen-year-old Amar Hashem was killed by a shot to the head in the refugee camp, doctors said, according to AP. Residents in downtown Nablus also heard gunshots.
Meanwhile, the Arab member of the Israeli parliament, Dr. Ahmed Tibi, was quoted Saturday as saying Israel has an operational plan to expel Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat to Sudan.
Speaking to the Lebanese daily Al Mustaqbal, he conveyed, "[Prime Minister] Ariel Sharon's diabolical plan, discussed by Israeli media, talks about expelling Arafat to Sudan."
Tibi said that he was convinced that Sudanese leadership would not agree to accept the expelled leader into its territory. Tibi added that he told Sharon that expelling Arafat would lead to more bloodshed among Israelis and Palestinians. (Albawaba.com)
