Dozens of young people rioted in Amman on Tuesday and smashed the windows of a vehicle belonging to Jordan's public security forces. The rioters are members of Alenaimat tribe. The clash comes against the backdrop of killing of businessman Salam Mathare Alenaimat who was shot dead by the security agents during a raid on his home which was initiated by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
A security source confirmed there were casualties among the civilians and security forces.
The spokesman for the Public Security Department Major Mohammad Khatib confirmed the reports about the clashes. He said they resulted in the injury of three policemen as well as a civilian who was injured, taken to hospital and died later.
