After being crowned champion of the Kia Champ into the Arena tournament organized by National Arab Motors (Kia Jordan), Amin Shuqair Warehouses Team continued its streak of stellar performances in the city of Johannesburg, participating in the global tournament that brought together 13 teams selected by Kia’s dealers in various countries around the world, including Jordan, Syria, Saudi Arabia, UAE, South Africa, England, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, China, Korea and Malaysia.
The Kia Champ into the Arena tournament came as part of a series of initiatives that Kia Motors Corporation was licensed by FIFA to organize in various parts of the globe in preparation for the 2010 World Cup.
Amin Shuqair Warehouses won third place in the global Kia tournament following a remarkable display of athletic ability. During the first round of the tournament, the team had an impressive line of victories, defeating the Saudi Arabian, Malaysian and Syrian teams with 11 goals to 3, 9 to 4 and 9 to 5 respectively. The team then proceeded to the semi-finals to lose against South Africa with a decent score of 4 to 3, in a vibrant game that attracted massive crowds of football enthusiasts. The team moved on to play against Germany for the third and fourth places in the tournament, winning the game with 9 goals to 4 and securing an honorable third place position behind South Africa and the Netherlands.
National Arab Motors’ Vice Chairman Nihad Zacharia expressed his pride at the outstanding results delivered by Amin Shuqair Warehouses during the tournament, explaining that the team earned the title following their stellar performance in the Champ into the Arena run. “The tournament enjoyed both transparency and a high level of commitment by the organized committees and appointed referees, which ensured its global success. The Amin Shuqair Warehouses Team also had the opportunity to attend the 2010 World Cup Quarter Finals game between Ghana and Uruguay, which was held on the Soccer City Stadium in South Africa.
The Kia Champ into the Arena tournament had begun on the 30th of April and concluded on the 9th of June, featuring the participation of more than 260 teams and 1560 players from various governorates around the Kingdom.
