Bahrain has been chosen as the headquarters of a new regional association which will set standards for training and consultation organizations in the Arab world, reported the Gulf Daily News on Tuesday.

A decision on the establishment of the Arab Management Association (AMA) will be finalized by training professionals from 15 Arab countries who will conclude their two-day meeting Tuesday, said the paper.

Bahrain’s Labor and Social Affairs Minister Abdulnabi Al Shoala, who opened the meeting, welcomed the move and said Bahrain was ready to host such a key regional body.

“The event, jointly organized by a semi-government regional body, a non-profit organization and a local private sector group, has brought together the think tank of Arab training and development professionals,” said Al Shoala.

“The meeting is being held at a time when Bahrain has embarked on a major national employment and training program,” he added.

AMA will be a non-profit and legal body which will issue standards for the training profession in the Arab world, the minister said -- Albawaba.com
