Allvoices.com, the first open media site where anyone can report from anywhere, has launched Global News Bureaus in countries throughout the Middle East and seeks citizen reporters who want to share their perspective on local and global news with readers in the U.S., Europe and throughout the World.
News bureaus and station chiefs are now in place in Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, and Pakistan; citizens interested in reporting local and regional news are encouraged to submit their work. Additionally, Allvoices is offering an incentive program that ensures citizen reporters get paid for news submissions.
Work submitted by citizen reporters will be featured on Allvoices' "Best of the Middle East" section on the site's front page. In addition, each country with a Global News Desk will also have a featured section on the Allvoices' site.
"We're looking for passionate citizens who want to share a unique, in-country perspective on news in their communities and on how global events impact their own countries," said Aki Hashmi, Chief Marketing Officer at Allvoices.com. "This is an invitation for citizens of the Middle East to use our powerful news platform to bring their own views to citizens in the U.S. and Western World whom generally get their information from solely Western news sources."
Middle East citizen reporters can now contribute reports directly to Allvoices or request news assignments from the leaders from their respective country's Global News Desk. Current and former journalists in Middle East countries are encouraged to consider posting work to the site and will be paid for these contributions as well.
Today Allvoices is the largest citizen journalist site in history and features stories, video and images from more than 300,000 contributors daily. This fresh approach to news and reporting has allowed the site to quickly build an audience of 4.5 million visitors.
