The Algerian cabinet regretted on Saturday the postponement of the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU) summit.
The meeting, which was scheduled to take place in Algiers on Friday and Saturday, was postponed indefinitely according to official Algerian sources following a request from Libyan leader Moammar al Gaddafi, however other sources said it was probably postponed as a result of a dispute on the Western Sahara.
A statement issued following the first new cabinet meeting, chaired by President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, said many efforts were made in recent months to hold the summit.
He added that the summit was necessary within the critical regional developments and hoped it would be held at a later date, to be approved by all member states, according to Kuwait News Agency. (Albawaba.com)
