Algeria chooses Its president with over 94% of the vote

ALBAWABA - The Independent National Election Authority of Algeria's Mohamed Sharfi declared on September 8, 2024, that Abdelmadjid Tebboune had been re-elected to a second term. Tebboune emerged victorious in the election on September 7, with a commanding 94.65% of the vote.

The independent candidate Tebboune received 5,329,253 votes. By comparison, Youssef Ouchiche of the "Front of Socialist Forces" garnered 122,146 votes, or 2.16%, while Abdelali Hassani Cherif of the "Movement for Society and Peace" earned 178,797 votes, or 3.17%.

Sharfi emphasized that great care was taken during the election process to provide openness and equal opportunity for all candidates. Additionally, he made the point that the high voter participation demonstrated the integrity of the democratic process.
