Algeria's military continues its offensive against Islamic insurgents throughout the country, the Middle East Newsline (MENL) said.
Reports from Algiers said commandos and elite forces are engaged in search-and-destroy operations in the eastern and southern regions of Algeria, said the agency.
The army killed fifteen people as part of a broad roundup in recent days in the Ain Defla region, about 150 kilometers (90 miles) west of the capital, said the Associated Press (AP) citing the La Tribune newspaper.
Soldiers carried out the operation using information that had been provided by an Islamic militant who was captured by security forces, the paper said.
More than 100,000 people have died in the Islamic insurgency in Algeria, which broke out in 1992 when the army canceled elections that a fundamentalist party was poised to win – Albawaba.com
