Algeria’s national assembly speaker, Bashir Boum'eza, said on Wednesday he would resign as he “could no longer accept to run the assembly under the pressure from President Abdelaziz Bouteflika,” reported the official KUNA news agency on Thursday.

“I cannot bow to pressures from President Abdelaziz Bouteflika any more," Boume'za told a news conference late Wednesday.

He told reporters that he would leave his post as of Saturday – Albawaba.com
