Sunni militants associated with al-Qaeda clashed with Shiite rebels in Yemen, AP reports.
The fierce fighting erupted late Tuesday night and continued into Wednesday, according to AP. The clashes killed five rebels and six al-Qaeda militants and caused thousands of residents to flee.
This recent violence between Shiite rebels and al-Qaeda militants comes after a swift advance from Houthi rebels in which the rebels captured the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, and the port town of Houdeida.
