Al Fara’a Group and Dr. Moopen’s Group join hands for medical initiative in Dubai
Health outreach treats 500 construction workers and promotes better healthcare for labourers
Al Fara’a Construction, Properties & Industrial Group, one of the UAE’s leading construction and industrial corporations, and Dr. Moopen’s Group, a leading UAE healthcare company have joined hands to launch the ‘Al Fara’a - Dr. Moopen’s Medical Camp’, which was recently held in Jebel Ali. More than 500 construction labourers received free treatment and medicines at the health outreach, which was also supported by the Indian Community Welfare Association. Representatives from the organisations involved in this initiative have expressed their aims to promote better healthcare among construction labourers who are faced with demanding physical challenges in their work.
H.E. Venu Rajamony, Indian Consul General, and guest of honour at the event inaugurated the camp in the presence of Dr. Azad Moopen, Chairman, Dr. Moopen’s Group, along with Adel Saleh and J. R. Gangaramani, Presidents & Executive Chairmen, Al Fara’a Group. Present at the event were Mr. Kumar K, Convener of Indian Community Welfare Committee, Dubai and Mr. David Paliakkara, President of Indira Gandhi Veekshnam Forum, Dubai Chapter. The noble event was also graced by the active presence of Dr. (Mrs.) Zuhoor Al Sabbagh, Director, Healthcare Services of Dubai Municipality, Mr. Mal Ainnainain Salama and Mr. Hafiz Uloom, Senior Officials in the Public Relations Department of Dubai Municipality.
“Work injuries, skin complaints, mental health problems and chronic illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease are higher among labourers and often go undiagnosed and untreated for far too long, which lead to more serious conditions,” said Dr. Moopen. “This initiative has been undertaken in order to provide immediate treatment for mild cases and detect early on if the workers are facing more complicated health problems. We extend our gratitude to Al Fara’a Group and Dr. Gangaramani for showing their commitment to safeguarding the health of their workforce.”
The six-hour medical camp provided free medical screening, medicines, medical advice and treatment for 200 laborers from Unibeton Ready Mix, a subsidiary of Al Fara’a Construction, Properties & Industrial Group, along with 300 guest laborers from other companies based in Dubai Investment Park. A team of six volunteer doctors from Dr. Moopen’s Group, including experienced cardiologists and gastroenterologists, joined volunteer nurses to screen patients. Dr. Moopen himself highlighted some common health problems for UAE laborers and the importance of being a responsible employer.
J.R. Gangaramani said, “We are fully committed to becoming the UAE’s most professional and caring employer, and our efforts to ensure the health and welfare of our employees is a major part of our strategy to maintain our position as the leading construction conglomerate in the region. Since our foundation in 1980, our efforts to maintain a healthy workforce have been meeting outstanding support from private health organisations such as Dr. Moopen’s Group and the Indian Community Welfare Association, to whom we extend our sincerest thanks. We would also like to express our immense gratitude to the UAE Government for extending their support for this initiative.”
