Al-Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans staged a children’s play at Petra University’s theater as part of a program executed by the Fund in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development. This endeavor aims to facilitate the rehabilitation of children in orphan care centers in Amman, Zarqa and Irbid, and to interact with child-oriented international events, like the International Children’s Day.

This activity includes 400 children from various orphan-care centers and seeks to instill values like thoughtfulness and mutual respect, by means of the educational recreational program implemented by Jordan Pioneers, “Sesame’s Tales” (Sim-Sim’s).

Executive Director of Al-Aman Fund, Ms. Maha Saqqa, said, “we are filled with a sense of pride and accomplishment to be able to present this play to our children

at the care centers. Tolerance, self-reliance, compassion and respect are encouraged in the children through the humorous characters of these locally-produced puppets, thus inspiring a tradition of self-respect and rich cultural heritage in the children’s daily lives.”

“This endeavor comes in support of our plan to hone our children’s talents, energy and creative abilities, so that they do not fade away or fall into oblivion,” Ms. Saqqa added. “The main goal is to source out the cultural means through which orphaned children can learn how to relate to the world of tomorrow. We hope to have made a real contribution in highlighting their potential and abilities, and building self-confidence and an optimistic outlook towards their future. I would like to thank Jordan Pioneers and Petra University for their support as well Cozmo markets who donated small gifts of sweets to the children”.

It is worth mentioning that Al-Aman Fund provides orphans over the age of 18 with the necessary educational skills and experiences to become active members of the community, both successful and self-dependant.
