A world class, quality product made from Emirati grown tomatoes – “A prime example where business sense and national interests meet”

Al Ain Vegetable Processing and Canning Factory (Al Ain Vegetables), the fully owned and operated entity of Abu Dhabi based Agthia Group (PJSC) has introduced fresh tomato paste for the UAE market made from purely locally grown tomatoes. Using world class technology and processes, the product is designed to offer the highest standards of quality to consumers, while creating demand for the produce of local farmers.

Speaking at the launch Mr. Ilias Assimakopoulos, CEO, Agthia Group (PJSC) said, “The acquisition of Al Ain Vegetables in 2008 marks a significant milestone in Agthia’s strategic turn around initiative. We have invested in a state of the art set up as part of our expansion plan and have been continuously improving and developing business processes in order to add greater value to our offerings.”

“Good quality tomato paste has become an integral part of every modern kitchen, thanks to its convenience, taste and nutritional values,” explained Stefano Cutrona, General Manager, Al Ain Vegetables. “Our product delivers on all these points and exceeds consumers’ expectation, but it also supports small local farmers by buying their produce, increasing the UAE’s self reliance for food. Most of the tomatoes produced in the UAE are processed in this plant alone,”

The company has also invested in another tomato paste manufacturing plant in Egypt. The total processing capacity of both plants is 2100 tons per day.
