Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Sunday that it was shameful for the United Nations Security Council to open a case on Iran's peaceful nuclear activities.
President Ahmadinejad made the remark while addressing the opening ceremony of the 7th Conference of General Assembly of Association of Asian Parliaments for Peace (AAPP). "It is shameful that the Security Council opens file against and threatens governments that are after production of nuclear fuel for peaceful purposes based on rules and regulations," he said, according to IRNA.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said on Sunday Tehran has not received any formal offer for negotiations on regional issues from the USA. Speaking at his weekly press conference, Hossein made the remark in response to a reporter who asked about his comment on a proposal made by the British Prime Minister Tony Blair to the US President George W. Bush for direct talks with Iran and Syria.
"Different US officials are calling for negotiations with Iran and Syria with respect to the significant role Iran and Syria have in the Middle East. However, Iran will consider any offer for talks to be made by the US administration," he said.
