While in Baghdad, the visiting Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Monday stressed that the "real Holocaust" is currently taking place in the occupied Palestine. Addressing a group of Iraqi ulema, scholars and university professors, the Iranian leader regretted that the international bodies do not show any reaction to the "crimes" being committed against Palestinian nation. "Today, the international organizations are under the pressure and influence of big powers," he added, according to IRNA.
Criticizing the performance of the UN Security Council, Ahmadinejad said the council cannot make decisions independently and on its own. He further regretted the lack of justice and spirituality in the UN Security Council.
Referring to historic relations between the two Iranian and Iraqi nations, the Iranian president said big powers made great attempts in the past years to tarnish the existing relations between the two neighboring states. He added that their attempts were vain. He further invited the Iraqi scholars to visit Iran in the near future.
