The American embassy in Beirut is resuming full non-immigration visa services for the first time since 1984, when the Visa Section was closed to the public after a deadly suicide bombing at the embassy.

A new consulate building was opened Friday by U.S. Ambassador to Beirut Vincent Battle in a ceremony at the embassy compound in suburban Awkar.

Starting June 2, applicants can pay the visa fee at any branch of Credit Libanais Bank, and get an appointment for an interview, according to a press release issued by the embassy. (Albawaba.com)
