Afghanistan: 12 Daesh fighters among dozens of insurgents killed in security operations

Dozens of insurgents have been killed during counter-terrorism operations in different parts of the country, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) says.

At least 58 militants, including 12 Daesh fighters, were killed in the past 24 hours during operations supported by the Afghan Air Force and artillery units of the army.

A statement from MoD said the operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Kapisa, Logar, Paktia, Paktika, Ghazni, Badakhshan, Balkhand Helmand provinces.

Twelve of the rebels were killed in the Ghormach district of Faryab, 20 in the Charkh district of Logar, 10 Daesh insurgents in Nangarharand two Daesh commanders in the Shindand district of Herat.

Four militants were eliminated in Ghazni, three in Uruzgan, two in Paktikaand five in Farah, the MoD said. But the militant groups have not yet commented on their casualties.
