Afghan security forces killed 17 Daesh militants during operations in the Achin district of eastern Nangarhar province, the governor’s house said on Friday.

The operations in Achin’s Sangorai and Kharsha areas were carried out on Thursday, a statement from the Nangarhar governor’s house said.

It said 17 Daesh militants were killed and their communications system destroyed during the operations.  The security forces and civilians stayed unharmed during the raids, the statement concluded.

There has been no word from Daesh about the operations in Achin, which has been the scene of sporadic clashes between Daesh militants and Afghan security forces.
