Eleven police officers in Afghanistan were sentenced to a year in prison Tuesday for neglecting their duty over the mob killing of a woman in Kabul.

Farkhunda, 27, a graduate of religious studies, was killed by a group outside of mosque on March 19, after she was wrongfully accused of burning a Koran.

The convicts were senior officers of the Police District 2, including the chief of the district.

The police have come under widespread criticism for not moving to prevent or stop the attack.

Four people were sentenced to death on May 4 for their role in the killing.
