Adipec welcomes record number of industry personnel
 
ADIPEC 2008 (Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference), one of the world’s largest oil & gas events, opened with a flourish with over 21,000 industry personnel and distinguished guests flooding through its doors on the first day, making it a record breaking opening day.  Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, ADIPEC was opened by His Highness Lieutenant General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and President of the Executive Council.

ADIPEC consistently brings together world leaders, and on the first day proudly welcomed British Prime Minister Gordon Brown who spoke passionately about current and future world energy demands. The first time a Prime Minister has ever attended ADIPEC, Gordon Brown addressed ADIPEC’s Executive Plenary Session on “Working together to deliver sustainable growth: Innovative Teams and Technology Deployment” before going on to meet with His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nayhan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi.

Running from 3-6 November, ADIPEC 2008 is hosting 1,500 exhibiting companies showcasing the latest technologies, in addition to the strongest conference programme ever featuring 250 top industry speakers. Organised by dmg world media, ADIPEC 2008 has broken all previous records. This year’s event takes up the whole space of the newly opened Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) with over 55,000sqm of exhibiting space indoors, 18,000sqm concourse area as well as outdoor space, dedicated conferencing space and more than 20 meeting rooms.
