The warrant against Adil Charkaoui issued in Montreal Monday November 8 on charges of being an Al-Qaeda agent has brought together Canadian and Moroccan anti terror officers.
Human rights groups in Morocco claim that the arrest is unjust and they claim Canada is harassing Muslims because of pressure from the USA to act on terror, according to local Moroccan press sources.
Adil Charkaoui immigrated to Canada from Morocco in 1995 and is married, owns a pizza store and studied at the Montreal University. He denies relations with bin Laden and Al-Qaeda but Canada claims he trained in Afghanistan and is in contact with terrorists.
Canada has two witnesses, Ahmed Ressam and Abou Zubaydah, who swear to seeing Charkaoui in Al-Qaeda camps in 1998. (albawaba.com)
