Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), a top-tier Islamic financial services group and an industry leader in new technology initiatives, became the first UAE bank to launch interactive mobile financial services through Etisalat’s new Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) technology.
Etisalat’s USSD technology allows interactive communication between the bank and a customer using their mobile phone. Unlike SMS banking, the USSD technology will enable customers to conduct secure real time transactions through their mobile phones, and get information on a broad range of banking services offered by ADIB.
Available for all Etisalat prepaid and postpaid customers, the service is easily accessible through any mobile phone by dialing *161# and does not require any special downloads or software installations. The service is complimentary for both ADIB and Etisalat customers and does not attract any fees or extra charges.
From checking an account balance to buying mobile phone credit in a matter of seconds, ADIB mobile banking allows customers to perform a number of banking functions. These include transfers between a customer’s accounts or third party ADIB accounts, monthly card payments and payments of bills for utilities such as ADDC, AADC, DEWA, SEWA and Etisalat.
This new service is another example of ADIB’s commitment to deliver ‘banking as it should be’ to customers and to deliver on its key promise banking that is simple and sensible.
