A focused approach to operating internal project management offices (PMO) is the key to running a successful business, according to a leading industry expert.
"A PMO's values and benefits are often questioned, particularly in tough economic times but companies cannot take a 'one size fits all' approach," said Raed S. Haddad, Senior Vice President of Global Delivery Services at ESI International.
Haddad, an internationally known project management expert and public speaker, will be delivering a free breakfast seminar on Thursday 7 October 2010 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dubai focusing on adding value through project management offices.
Based on ESI's work with best in class organisations, Haddad will share best practices on how to assess the impact of project management learning initiatives. Using global data and information gathered from ESI's recent work with local and international clients, Haddad will present a framework that companies can adopt to align the functions of their PMO to ensure maximum impact.
"Many organisations rely heavily on their project management division but not all are getting the best value for money so we need to ask why. During this seminar our clients will help illustrate how companies can turn static operations around into a thriving organisation without heavy financial investment," Haddad said.
"In addition, we will also address; what stakeholders are saying about the value PMOs are providing, the different types of PMO and when each should be utilised, the five key best practises that affect their success, and how to assess the impact of the department in a pragmatic and sustainable way."
Over the past 20 years Haddad has had extensive first hand project management experience on numerous programmes worldwide. As a professorial lecturer at The George Washington University, he currently teaches graduate level courses in project and programme management; cost, schedule and quality control and decision-making techniques.
