Action Aviation is supporting marketing efforts for the twin-engined multi-role MD Explorer® helicopter at the 8th Annual International Defence Exhibition ‘IDEX’ 2007 in Abu Dhabi this week (18-22 February). MD Helicopters is showcasing the MD Explorer® at the helicopter static pavilion (OD 1680). The Action Aviation Stand is CON 815.
The multi-role MD Explorer,® model 902, the largest light twin helicopter in its class, features the renowned and unique NOTAR™ anti torque system with benefits including increased safety, significantly lower noise levels, together with performance and operational enhancements, which allow this helicopter to carry its maximum certified payload at temperatures exceeding ISA + 25c .
Dubai-based Action Aviation, the international organisation which specialises in the marketing of new and pre-owned high performance fixed-wing and helicopter aircraft is supporting MD Helicopters in the Middle East, India, Sri Lanka and Scandinavia. Since agreeing an eight-year distribution contract with the US manufacturer in November 2006, Action Aviation has sold three new MD Explorers® in the region to date and is in advanced dialogue with several more potential customers.
One of the most advanced helicopters in its market segment, the MD Explorer® became the first helicopter to be validated by Europe's JAA JAR Part 27 Category ‘A’ guidelines, which requires helicopters to be capable of safely continuing flight during takeoff or landing - on a single engine.
Its eight-seat cabin is the largest in the light twin class, accessed through two 52 inch (1.32m) sliding cabin doors and offering a large rear access baggage compartment. Its unobstructed large cabin makes the MD Explorer® well suited for rapid role changes to EMS, police, utility and VIP configurations. The MD Explorer is capable of winching personnel with the Goodrich system. A heavy-duty cargo hook permits 3,000lbs (1360-KG) external load operations. Additional safety and maintainability are enhanced by lightning strike protection, built-in maintenance steps and platforms, and an aluminum/composite airframe resistant to corrosion in marine environments.
