Acre Municipality on Monday appealed to Israel’s supreme court to prevent the Shin Bet security service from turning Acre into a “city of refuge” for Arab collaborators, reported Haaretz newspaper.

The city demanded that the Shin Bet halt its plans to settle two new collaborators in Acre.

Protests against the Shin Bet's plans started last week, said the paper, adding that dozens of the city’s Jewish and Arab residents blocked off a road last Tuesday and prevented the members of family of a Palestinian collaborator from entering their home.

Acre Mayor Shamiriyahu Biran said that “there is a consensus in Acre not to settle collaborators.” - Albawaba.com
