abu dhabi welcomes creative cultures of the nobel world

An extraordinary exhibition celebrating 100 years of the Nobel Prize has arrived in Abu Dhabi for the final leg of an international tour which commenced in 2001.

The exhibition, Cultures of Creativity, was developed by the Nobel Museum in Stockholm, Sweden on the centenary of the Nobel Prize in 2001 and has since travelled to 13 countries including Sweden, Japan, Korea, America, Britain, Singapore and Australia. It is on display at the Emirates Palace Hotel from 23 October to 31 December 2007.

Cultures of Creativity: the centennial exhibition of the Nobel prizes explores the creativity of the scientists, writers, economists and peacemakers who have been recognised by the Nobel Foundation.

The exhibition examines questions such as, ‘What is creativity and how can creative activity best be encouraged? Does creativity rest with an individual or their environment?’ The Exhibition does not provide specific answers, but gives visitors the chance to think about these questions for themselves.

The exhibition is a duplicate of the one on display in Stockholm, Sweden, and Abu Dhabi is the only location in the Middle East to host the Nobel Museum.

Visitors will be able to follow the changes of the 20th Century through the Nobel Prize and the Laureates and explore the work and the ideas of more than 700 creative minds presented through a range of innovative exhibits including two specially designed theatres, an audio pavilion, and an e-museum.

Cultures of Creativity is open to the general public Sunday to Friday from 4pm to 8pm and Saturdays from 10am to 2pm and 4pm and 8pm. Bookings are essential for school visits on weekdays from 10am to 2pm – http://nobelmuseum.hct.ac.ae/groupbookings. Admission is free.
