Abu Dhabi University recently held its 4th Annual Orientation and Iftar dinner at Le Royal Meridien Hotel. The ceremony welcomed faculty members new to both ADU campuses, heard four keynote addresses, heard strategic plans and key administrative details for the 2006-2007 academic year. Topics covered by the keynote addresses included human capital development, the global ICT context, student-centred learning and research development
“The presence of our faculty members showed strong solidarity and identification with ADU’s vison and mission,” said H.E Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, ADU Chairman. “This year is very special for Abu Dhabi University - we have grown extensively and have attracted a host of internationally renowned academics to join our faculty body. The Iftar also enabled us to welcome new colleagues to our new campus, which is set to be a holistic and self-contained academic city that will provide students and faculty with all the resources they require,” he added.
The Deans of College of Arts and Science, College of Business Administration, College of Computer Science and Information Technology along with specialized HR Consultant, Professor Tom Bartridge, served as the ceremony’s Keynote Speakers. Their presentations underlined the need for ADU’s seven key strategies and the objectives set for the upcoming academic year 2006-2007. They congratulated ADU’s faculty and staff on the success that the university has seen, and the recent approval of six masters degrees by the Ministry’s CAA. The University also celebrated the completion of the first phase of its AED260 million campus at Khalifa City which is set to receive students the beginning of next month.
“We have attracted a record number of applicants from all over the world and we now have the largest number of PhDs of any university in the UAE. With the support of HH Sheikh Hamdan, ADU will continue to thrive in the higher education market - allowing us to provide premium education to our students,” said Dr. Reynold Macpherson, ADU Chancellor. “We are also benchmarking internationally this year to ensure we firm up our place at the quality end of the higher education market.”
Abu Dhabi University has added 11 new programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including six new masters programs, and intends to open 3 new Colleges at its new campus in September 2007. This, in addition to its world-class faculty and facilities, makes it a very attractive option for students in the UAE and internationally.
