Abu Dhabi Duty Free (ADDF) today announced the two grand prize winners of its recent “Go Crackers” Winter Promotion (15 Nov – 10 Jan) with a Volkswagen Touareg V6 and a family holiday to Malaysia offered to the grand prize winners.
Amer Raza, an energy consultant from Pakistan, was the winner of the VW Touareg, with Raymond Bou Samra, an HR Manager from Lebanon drawn as the winner of the family holiday. Raza became the latest in a long line of winning international travellers (non-UAE residents) to take top prize having entered the raffle while on a short trip to the UAE to attend the marriage of a family friend.
In addition to the two main prizes, the “Go Crackers” promotion also distributed hundreds of instant prizes daily over the two-month period with cameras, mobile phones, perfumes, toys, confectionery and other duty free items among the prizes.
“We are pleased to note the success of the ‘Go Crackers’ promotion with a significant increase in sales noted over the same period of the promotion,” said Dan Cappell, General Manager, Abu Dhabi Duty Free.
“We are delighted that the concept was well received by our passengers and our congratulations go out to the two grand prize winners,” added Cappell.
Abu Dhabi Duty Free witnessed a 44% soar in sales over the period of the winter promotion which was based around the concept of the Christmas Cracker which allowed coupon holders, in addition to the grand prize draw entry, the chance to receive an instant duty free prize.
“Coinciding with robust growth figures seen across the whole of 2007, the promotion’s main activity in the month of December played its part in the 36.28 percent year-on-year growth in revenue Abu Dhabi Duty Free realized in the final month of the year versus 2006 figures,” concluded Cappell.
The “Go Crackers” promotion ran from 15 November 2007 to 10 January 2008. For every AED 250 purchase customers were entitled to a coupon where they received automatic entry into the grand draw to win a Volkswagen Touareg and a family holiday tour. A scratch’n’win portion of the same coupon also gave some lucky customers chances of winning instant duty free prizes.
