Eighty-one publications by local and Arab authors were released by the Sharjah Department of Culture and Information (DCI) last year. This was done in the framework of its program to encourage various creative writers in the country and other Arab states, according to Gulf News.
A spokesman at the DCI on Tuesday stated that the publications covered a wide range of topics including arts and literature, theater, poetry, criticism, heritage, short story, novel, translation and fine arts.
"The publications are by UAE authors and Arab writers living in the country," said the spokesman, adding that the list of writers included ten women.
He added that the DCI had already put the publications on display at its pavilions in the Kuwait World Book Fair, the Cairo International Book Fair, and the Sharjah World Book Fair. (Albawaba.com)
