ALBAWABA- Eight people were killed and 12 others injured in a collision between a train and a minibus in Ismailia, the Egyptian Ministry of Health announced on Thursday.
According to the ministry’s statement, Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar is closely monitoring the situation.
Emergency response teams were dispatched immediately, with 13 ambulances sent to the crash site on the Galbana-Qantara East Road in Ismailia Governorate.
Preliminary reports indicate that 12 passengers sustained injuries and were transported to Al-Qantara East Central Hospital for treatment, while eight others succumbed to their injuries.
Road and railway accidents are frequent in Egypt, often linked to poor infrastructure and inadequate safety measures.
Just months ago, a train accident in Minya, Upper Egypt, resulted in one fatality and 21 injuries.
