7.5 Magnitude Earthquake strikes Taiwan, Tsunami warning issued

ALBAWABA - The Japan Meteorological Agency announced that a 7.5-magnitude earthquake near Taiwan on Wednesday at 9:00 am caused tsunami advisories for southern Japanese islands. This was a severe seismic event.

Okinawa was issued a tsunami warning after the earthquake, with waves as high as three meters possible. According to an eyewitness cited by Reuters, power outages were recorded in several areas of the impacted area following the seismic activity.

The areas highlighted in red on the Japan Meteorological Agency map are under a tsunami warning, and the areas marked in blue could see slight variations in sea level.

For their own protection, locals in the impacted areas are being urged by authorities to reach higher ground right now through urgent recommendations.
