The 6th national Folk Music Festival began on Friday August 5 in the Hasni-Chekroun theatre in the town of Oran. Organized by the Ahl el-fen, the opening of the Festival was marked by a folk carnival which passed through the main parts of Oran. Infosoir reported that groups coming from 10 different willayas are participating in the event, which will continue until August 10. According to Belmokhtar Said, the president of Ahl el-fen and the organizer of the event, this Festival contributes to the "development of the Algerian traditional music and cultural activities."
