ALBAWABA - Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Observatory revealed that a 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck east Turkey on Wednesday at a depth of 9 km underground.
According to sources, the earthquake took place 17km WSW of Doğanyol city at 07:46 UTC. Till this moment, there are no reports of damage or casualties, according to local sources.
Furthermore, Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Authority (AFAD) confirmed that a quake measuring 5.9 struck eastern Turkey's Malatya province.
This comes over a year after the strong earthquake that struck both Turkey and Syria leaving dozens of thousands killed and many more others injured.
Last year, a 7.8-magnitude quake hit southern Turkey and northern Syria leaving over 40,000 people killed and erasing entire areas from the map.
