ALBAWABA- The Pakistani military announced on Tuesday that it had killed 50 Islamist militants in a four-day operation along the border with Afghanistan, in the volatile southwestern province of Balochistan.

According to Reuters based on a military statement, the operation began on Thursday in areas where both Islamist militants and separatist insurgents operate.

Balochistan is home to several key projects under China’s Belt and Road Initiative and has long faced unrest from groups seeking a greater share of the province’s mineral wealth.

While the army described the operation as a significant success, independent analysts and militant groups have accused Pakistan’s military of routinely inflating casualty figures, a claim the military has consistently denied.
