At the 2nd Annual Supply Chain and Transport Awards 2008, Jafza walks away with ‘Outstanding Achievement of the Year’ &
• ‘Industrial Area of the Year’
Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) was presented with the ‘Outstanding Achievement of the Year’ award, and walked away, for the second consecutive year, with the ‘Industrial Area of the Year’ award on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the Supply Chain & Transport Awards 2008, the leading celebration for the region’s shipping, cargo and logistics industries.
Organised by ITP Business Publishing, the awards ceremony held in Dubai, brought together more than 200 top executives from the Middle East transportation and logistics industries.
16 awards were presented at the ceremony with categories covering the logistics, sea freight and air cargo sectors. The winners were judged by a prestigious panel of industry experts, selected from within the Middle East logistics industry.
Accepting the awards on behalf of Jafza were Mr. Ibrahim Al Janahi, Senior Vice President, Commercial Sales and Dr. Mohammed Al Banna, Vice President, Sales.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ibrahim Al Janahi, said: “Winning not one but two awards at the Supply Chain and Transport Awards is really the icing on an already stellar year for Jafza. Our customer-centric, innovative approach has proved to be very successful for us.”

The biggest award of the night, the ‘Outstanding Achievement of the Year’, was presented to Jafza for experiencing a breakthrough year within the Middle East’s logistics and sea freight industry.
The Jebel Ali Free Zone has reached record occupancy levels of well over 6000 clients in 2007 and is projected to double its clientele in 2010 with its multi billion dirham South Zone expansion which is already well under way. The company’s contribution of 26 percent to Dubai’s GDP in the last year, its consistent growth rates, ambitious South Zone expansion plans and its branding initiative, “Jafza, Where Else?” were among the several deciding factors that won over the judging panel at this year’s Supply Chain and Transport Awards.
The judges for this years’ awards once again included Michael Proffitt (CEO of Dubai Logistics City), Issa Baluch (CEO of Swift Freight International), Captain Mansoor Ghafoor (CEO of STALCO Group and president of the National Association of Freight and Logistics), Dr Kanak Madrecha (senior manager of Dubai World and founding member of the Supply Chain & Logistics Group) and Professor Cedwyn Fernandes (chair of the College of Graduate Studies at the University of Wollongong in Dubai).
Now in its second year, the annual Supply Chain & Transport Awards set out to honour the regional and international players that have gone above and beyond in terms of their industry contribution.
