ALBAWABA- At least 24 civilians were killed and 55 others wounded, including five women, after the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) launched heavy artillery shelling on the city of El Fasher, the Sudan Doctors Network announced Thursday.
The strikes, which hit the central market and Awlad Al-Rif neighborhood on Wednesday, were described by the network as a “deliberate massacre” against unarmed civilians.
In a strongly worded statement, the group condemned the shelling as a “heinous crime” and part of a series of “war crimes and genocide” that El Fasher residents have faced for more than a year. The city remains under a suffocating siege, with severe shortages of food, medicine, and basic services.
The network accused the RSF of systematically targeting densely populated residential areas in violation of international humanitarian law.
It also blamed the international community, the UN Security Council, and the African Union for their “silence and inaction,” urging urgent measures to stop the shelling, lift the blockade, and pressure RSF leaders to halt what it called “systematic genocide and starvation” of civilians.
Local sources said RSF shelling continued into the night, while clashes between the Sudanese army and RSF forces were reported south and east of the city.
